Women’s Basketball Sweep on Road Trip!
The Lady Lions were on the road this weekend in Lincoln, Nebraska and Overland Park, Kansas. The Ladies picked up two wins moving them to 11-9 on the year and they remain undefeated in 2026 so far going 6-0! On Friday February 6th, The Lady Lions first took on the Union Adventist Warriors. The Ladies had an amazing performance Friday night, as they took an early lead in the first quarter 15-6 and never looked back! The Lady Lions were able to outscore the Warriors in every quarter. The Lady Lions held the Warriors to under 10 points each quarter and also forced 35 Warrior turnovers! The final score was 64-32. Everyone on the Lady Lions scored a basket! Madeline Berkey led all scorers with 15 points shooting an impressive 6/6 from the field! Marlyssa and Mikendra Ledgerwood each chipped in 9 points respectively
On day two of the road trip the Lady Lions faced off against the Kansas Christian College Falcons. The game started off going back and forth as both teams traded buckets in the first quarter. The Lady Lions had the slight edge in the first quarter leading 23-22. In the second quarter both teams continued to trade buckets, but the Falcons were able to regain the lead into halftime 38-37. In the third quarter both teams continued to go back and forth. At about the 7 minute mark the Lady Lions went on a 7-0 run starting with Julie Hull connecting on a deep pull-up 3, and then a couple possessions later, Hull found Marlyssa Ledgerwood underneath the basket for a layup, and Mikendra Ledgerwood found her sister Marlyssa cutting for another easy layup! The Lady Lions were able to maintain their lead for the remainder of the game and went on to win 85-76! Julie Hull led all scorers with 26 points shooting 6/12 from deep! Mikendra poured in 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. Madeline Berkey had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds!
The Lady Lions take on #10 nationally ranked Manhattan Christian College Monday, February 9th at 4pm Cst!
