Saturday – Game Two
On day two, the Lady Lions made several adjustments in hopes of earning a different result. They came out with high energy and effort, quickly taking an early 9–5 lead. The first half was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams trading stops and scores. Eventually, Saint Boniface created some separation, taking a 34–25 lead with one minute remaining. With 36 seconds left, sophomore guard Jaelle Fischer knocked down a three-pointer, cutting the deficit to 34–28 heading into halftime.
In the second half, the Lady Lions continued to battle, trading baskets with Saint Boniface. With five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the Lady Lions took a 58–57 lead. Unfortunately, with 1:22 left on the clock, Saint Boniface reclaimed the lead at 66–62. Freshman forward Mikayla Ledgerwood knocked down a free throw, and her twin sister, Mikendra Ledgerwood, then stole the inbound pass. The Lady Lions called timeout with 14.7 seconds remaining, trailing 66–63. Head Coach Rachael Nowell drew up a play that produced a good look from three to tie the game, but the shot missed. Saint Boniface secured the rebound and went on to win 66–63.
The Lady Lions are back in action this week with a busy schedule, playing four games in five days. Their next matchup is their season home opener on Tuesday, November 18, against the University of Minnesota–Morris.
